COO Rogers to replace Wells as CEO at SunTrust Banks

James Wells III, chairman and CEO at SunTrust Banks, is stepping down after having guided the company through the global financial crisis and its aftermath. William Rogers Jr., who is chief operating officer and president of the bank, will succeed Wells as CEO by June 1. This week, SunTrust reported its third consecutive quarterly profit.
