When an employee's performance begins to falter, don't ignore the issue, but talk to the worker privately, Lance Haun writes. He also advises doing things such as helping to brainstorm solutions for any problems. Finally, "[d]on't assume the problem is solved simply because performance improves," Haun writes. "Communicating with the employee (without being overbearing) is the only way to ensure things are on track or if additional steps need to be taken."
