Security joins cost as the top concern for IT professionals

Research indicates that improving data security is now on par with reducing costs as the primary concern of corporate IT departments, which represents a major shift among public-sector firms, Nathan Eddy writes. According to security firm Becrypt -- which commissioned the study -- the number of companies that have established formal security protocols has increased from 10% in 2007 to 92% now. The trend is at least partially driven by the need for remote security solutions thanks to an increase in telecommuting.
