Attorney: Tax could help La. board finish flood-protection system

A task force in Louisiana is weighing a new sales or property tax, which would need voters' approval, to help the Terrebonne Levee District finance the completion of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf hurricane-protection project. A tax measure may help the board raise $97 million for the remaining levees and floodgates necessary to protect the area, said Jerry Osborne, the parish's bond attorney.
