Honolulu begins work on concrete columns for $5.3B rail project

Construction of concrete foundation shafts and support columns for Honolulu's $5.3 billion rail project is scheduled to begin today, according to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation. Kiewit Infrastructure West will start work on the initial stage of the 20-mile project, which is a "significant milestone," according to HART CEO and Executive Director Daniel Grabauskas. However, opposition to the project and unclear funding are still issues to be resolved.
