Premature babies benefit from early milk feeding, study finds

University of Oxford researchers examined 400 premature babies and found that initiating milk feeds within the first 24 to 48 hours following birth would be beneficial. They also found no statistical significant difference in the number of preemies who suffered severe bowel disorders including necrotising enterocolitis. The findings appear in the journal Pediatrics.
