Schools respond to cyberbullying

There are 45 states with laws that address cyberbullying -- up from zero with such laws in 2005, according to the Education Commission of the States. Some states initiated cyberbullying laws following tragic incidents involving students. In New Jersey, a student's suicide prompted calls for a law requiring each school to have a cyberbullying specialist on campus. However, in some states, including Maryland, the way in which cyberbullying laws are applied varies by school.
