Wal-Mart reportedly will soon launch its Vudu video-on-demand service in Mexico, with an eye toward entering other Latin American, European and Asian markets in 2012, Variety reports, citing unnamed sources. Meanwhile, the retail giant's disc-to-digital service, which converts DVDs and Blu-ray discs into digital copies in the computing cloud, got a boost in adding DreamWorks Animation titles to its offerings. Rich Greenfield of BTIG Research writes that Vudu "is a very well-done iVOD/EST service and, at worst ... will gain far greater consumer awareness from the industry's disc-to-digital marketing campaign."
