Apps assist those with disabilities

University of Rochester researchers have developed mobile applications that offer people with disabilities help with real-time needs, such as reading food labels or transcribing audio recordings. VizWiz recently updated its app that helps blind users identify an object by enabling them to place a photo of the object on social media feeds or send an e-mail to third-party contractors for help. The Scribe app delivers audio streams to employees who transcribe them for deaf and hearing-impaired users.
