A recent Wall Street Journal editorial overlooks the benefits of ethanol and the Renewable Fuel Standard and turns a blind eye to "the energy, environmental, and economic cost" of the country's continuing reliance on fossil fuels, writes Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. Ethanol exerts downward pressure on gasoline prices, boosts consumer choice at the pump and lessens the oil industry's stranglehold on the market, Dinneen notes. "The RFS was designed to end the oil companies' monopoly and drive innovation and diversity in liquid transportation fuels. It is doing just that," Dinneen states.
