Blended learning can help schools improve foreign-language learning and overcome common obstacles such as limited time, resources and budgets, suggests Gail Palumbo, area chair for curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix Online. Online tools such as Duolingo and Imendi can supplement teacher instruction and help schools build foreign-language programs that go beyond grammar and translation, she said.
