IBM might dump servers to pursue middleware and mobile

The speculation that IBM might be selling off its servers division means it is likely looking to the larger profit margins of Big Data and mobile, Stacey Higginbotham writes. Analytics acquisitions such as WorkLight and CastIron Systems, as well as a focus on middleware that connects an increasingly mobile workforce through the clouds, could fund a fourth wave of computing based on brain-like processors and Watson artificial intelligence.
