Thermal battery could boost e-vehicle ranges by 50%

Electric air-conditioning and heating systems put an added strain on the batteries of electric vehicles. Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers have developed an energy-efficient heating and cooling system that uses high-tech materials to absorb water vapor, providing a cooling effect. That places next to no load on the battery, allowing it to focus on propelling the vehicle.
