Nursing home control of physician resources

How much do we know about ways that nursing homes (NHs) manage or control physician resources? Physician involvement in the nursing home is recognized as important, yet little is known about the control over physician resources. The NHCOPR (Nursing Home Control of Physician Resources) scale looked at formal relationships. Thirty percent of NHs had weak control, 47.5% average control, and 24.8% tight control. The NHCOPR could impact resident outcomes and target interventions such as education or promotion of physician staff. (Free abstract only.)
