Survey on sex, drugs and alcohol canceled

Channing Bete Co. has dropped plans to administer a controversial survey asking Fairfax County, Va., students about their experiences with sex, drugs and alcohol. Fearing a lawsuit from parents, the company had asked the district to absolve it of potential liability, but was notified by attorneys that such an action was illegal.
