ASTA suggests steps for Congress to protect passengers

Paul Ruden, senior vice president for legal and industry affairs at ASTA, testified in front of a House committee late last week and made some suggestions for ways Congress can help protect airline passengers. When passenger rights were discussed in the House in 1999, ASTA supported a legislated bill of rights, but it was decided that voluntary actions on the part of airlines would be enacted. Ruden said the time for "voluntary" commitments to passenger service has passed.
