House passes water projects bill, White House opposition expected

The House has passed the Water Resources Development Act, which would provide funds for dozens of Army Corps of Engineers water projects, but the White House opposes the $15 billion bill, calling it too expensive. Projects funded by the bill include a $3.4 billion package to build new locks and restore the ecosystem in the upper Mississippi River and Illinois Waterway.
