Workers' comp fraud appears to increase in California

Workers' compensation fraud by employers appears to be increasing in California, according to the state's Department of Insurance. Suspected fraudulent claims rose to 2,056 in fiscal 2006 from 416 in fiscal 2003. A study by the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud noted that it is unclear if more fraud is occurring or if it is simply being reported more frequently.
