House committee debates abstinence-only sex education

While abstinence should be an element of comprehensive sex-ed programs, teens are ill-served by not learning how to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, several medical and other experts argued before a U.S. House oversight committee Wednesday, while proponents of abstinence-only education maintained that their approach remains the most effective in keeping teens safe.
