UN: Darfur death toll higher than believed

An estimated 300,000 people, about 100,000 more than previously thought, have died in the last five years of conflict in Sudan's Darfur region, John Holmes, humanitarian affairs head for the United Nations, said Wednesday. Sudanese officials dispute such high figures, saying only around 10,000 people have died.
