Children in intensive care may face later psychological problems

A Canadian study found children admitted to a pediatric ICU have a greater risk of developing anxiety, fear and other psychological problems for months after returning home. The researchers said evaluating children for post-traumatic stress symptoms several months after an ICU stay could result in earlier treatment and improvements to the ICU environment.
