An "inflection point" for network TV?

Increasingly, network ratings aren't able to support huge investments in scripted TV shows. Now, it seems, networks are adapting to this new reality. One example is NBC's decision to give over the 10 p.m. slot to a variety show hosted by Jay Leno. Other solutions might be in the offing, including a shorter prime time and more locally generated programming.
