Online privacy debate swirls around surveillance by employers

Employer scrutiny of workers' online activity is spilling into the murky waters of legal privacy. Several employee suits are protesting the surveillance of password-protected accounts housed on personal computers not issued by employers. Some workers have been disciplined for posting derogatory comments on social-networking sites.
