First responders receive autism training at new center in N.J.

Law enforcement officers and other emergency personnel are receiving training on how to handle situations involving people with autism at the newly opened Center for Autism in Newark, N.J. The training courses will be required for all Newark firefighters and police officers and will include information on behavioral characteristics that are common among people with the neurological disorder. The center will also provide autism support and services for families and other members of the community.
