Napolitano: Christmas Day terror attempt a spur to improvement

After months of studying the "granular details of international aviation standards," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is considered "one of the strongest members of the Obama Cabinet," the Washington Post reports. Since the Christmas Day terror attempt on a U.S. jetliner, she has flown around the world examining airport security and encouraging greater coordination among international agencies. Known within the administration as a national security hardliner, Napolitano is sometimes at odds with the secretary of state and the attorney general, according to the paper.
