Virginia has new state assessments for students with disabilities

Virginia is replacing its alternative portfolio assessment tests with a multiple-choice test for students with disabilities. The tests will be administered online, graded by the state and will include innovation questions for which students will be allowed to show their work. Officials are developing criteria to determine eligibility for the modified tests in response to concerns that the portfolio tests were overused.
