Government program boosts large animal veterinarians in N.D.

A government loan repayment plan, which offers up to $80,000 in tuition reimbursement if a veterinary graduate works in large animal practice in a rural area, has increased the number of large animal veterinarians in rural North Dakota. Since the Veterinary Loan Repayment Program began in 2008, 15 large animal veterinarians have entered the workforce in rural parts of the state.
