Governors want tax credit program widened to include E85

A group of 33 governors wrote a letter to the leaders of the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee asking lawmakers to add E85 to the list of fuels eligible for the alternative-fuel tax credit. The Governors' Biofuels Coalition wrote that E85 was purposely left out of the tax credit to avoid a double tax benefit with the then-active Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit. "Now that Congress has ended the [VEETC], E85 could continue to benefit from the alternative fuels incentive," they wrote.
