How proficiency-based instruction is being used in Ore. schools

Oregon has been utilizing proficiency-based learning in its schools since 2002. The implementation of the approach is highlighted in one district, where superintendent Maria Delapoer is credited with providing continual support for students and educators. "Rather than use a system based on grades, attendance or homework, we use a system that makes sure students master the concepts aligned to Oregon state standards," Delapoer said.
