Advanced GPS pet locator offers peace of mind for pet owners

The recently launched SpotLite 2.0 pet locator device uses a combination of satellite location data and cell tower signals to track animals and alert owners via text or e-mail when the pet leaves a predetermined "safe zone." The device automatically checks the pet's location every five minutes to see if it's still in the safe zone but can be changed to update every 30 seconds if the animal is believed to be lost. The software interface includes a dashboard that shows the device's location pinpointed on recent satellite imagery of the area, although the images are not real-time and offered only as context, Natasha Leger writes.
