Hospice nurse welcomes help when caring for her father

Certified hospice and palliative nurse Mary Cooke knew hospice care would benefit her father, who had Alzheimer's disease, and herself as a family caregiver, but said she was surprised that, after almost 30 years working in hospice, she still relied so much on her dad's nurse. Cooke says Helene Levin, also a CHPN, offered help with pain relief, drug dosage and medication administration while providing a "calm, compassionate presence" that reassured her father.
