Kymeta working on Ka-band aircraft antenna

Kymeta Corp., a startup company backed by Bill Gates, is creating a fuselage-hugging surface antenna for satellite-based Ka-band broadband. The company is also incorporating metamaterials research to develop a laptop-sized portable satellite hot-spot device that would be able to access high-speed Internet service without traditional Wi-Fi or mobile broadband connections.
