Legislators to allow amendments to Internet tax bill

Industry organizations continue to oppose the Marketplace Fairness Act requiring businesses to collect out-of-state online sales tax, saying it would stall growth in the economy as well as jobs, Wendy Davis writes. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., is trying to move the bill to a vote by permitting amendments in the face of opposition that includes complaints that the act creates massive compliance issues for small businesses and is unfair to states that impose no sales tax.
