Menards takes aim at Lowe's, Home Depot with super-sized stores

Home-improvement retailer Menards is opening several new super-sized stores in the Detroit area, hoping to take market share from industry giants Lowe's and Home Depot. The new stores, which are about 240,000 square-feet, come with a hefty price tag, but company spokesman Jeff Abbott said they are a worthwhile endeavor. "Our investment is for the long haul and we expect this to be a win-win for both Menards and Metro Detroit," he said.
