Red Hat updates JBoss software with new name, focus

Red Hat's JBoss Java middleware has been updated and renamed as WildFly. The software will strive to achieve Java Enterprise Edition 7 certification, Jon Gold writes. "WildFly continues the decade-long tradition of Red Hat JBoss middleware to push the boundaries of enterprise software development. It also represents a significant opportunity for wider community adoption and involvement," Red Hat's Mark Little said in a statement. As IDC's Al Hilwa says, "I think this is about differentiating the paid-support offering from Red Hat from the open-source bits that folks can download and use."
