Wal-Mart should go after perishables online to win Web

Wal-Mart Stores is the world's biggest retailer, but it lags when it comes to catching up online with Amazon, something it is working to overcome by borrowing ideas from the Internet giant. With online sales of consumer packaged goods -- food, groceries, everyday items -- increasing almost 20% annually, Wal-Mart should home in on this space to compete with Amazon, says Todd Hale, senior vice president of consumer and shopping insights at Nielsen.
