N.Y. to award $314M in bridge contracts for DBEs

Firms certified as disadvantaged business enterprises are poised to gain a total of $314 million in contracts for the $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge replacement project. The federal government is requiring the New York State Thruway Authority and the bridge's builder to award contracts worth 10% of the project cost to minority- and women-owned businesses in exchange for a low-interest loan.
