Partner abuse tied to higher risk of mental health problems after childbirth

A study in the journal BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth found that women who experienced psychological, physical or sexual abuse before or during pregnancy had a greater risk of developing postpartum mental health issues. Researchers said the findings highlight the importance of screening for physical and nonphysical forms of abuse to better care for patients.
