USDA Issues Directives To Strengthen HACCP System

The USDA's Food Safety Inspection Service has announced plans to focus on points in the ground beef process where contamination is rampant. Under the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, the FSIS can withhold inspection marks or suspend inspection of a plant if meat processors fail to implement an acceptable sanitation program.
