Vancouver backs off on biomass heat system plan

The city of Vancouver, B.C., has scrapped a plan to burn wood waste as part of an innovative means of powering a district heat system for the Olympic Village in that city. Local residents and the village's developer protested the plan, and the city now will need to find different technology to capture heat from the village's sewer pipes.
