Fuel prices continue to sting airlines, travelers

Travelers are expecting to see higher ticket prices this summer -- but airlines are the ones really feeling the effects of soaring fuel prices, as fare hikes aren't enough to overcome fuel costs. Soaring fuel prices could spur more carriers to consolidate and may force more into bankruptcy, Air Transport Association President and CEO James May said. "We simply can't survive these kinds of prices unless we find a way to raise prices or cut capacity," May noted.
