Black & Decker shares rise even as Q1 profit drops

Black & Decker Corp. posted net income of $4.9 million for the first quarter, a drop in profit of 93% from the first quarter of the prior year. But, this was better than analysts had hoped, and share price soared nearly 8%. The company cut its full-year earnings forecast from $1.75 to $2.25 a share down to $1.50 to $1.90 a share.
