Budesonide/formoterol inhaler is effective for black teens

A study of 742 black teens and adults diagnosed with moderate to severe asthma showed that budesonide/formoterol pressurized metered-dose inhaler had the same cardiovascular safety outcomes as that of budesonide therapy alone. However, the number of patients with a heart rate more than 100 beats per minute or an increase of 20 or more beats was greater in BUD/FM group than the BUD alone group, researchers reported at an American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology meeting.
