San Francisco 49ers' $1.2B stadium to be league's "smartest"

Ground was broken last week for the San Francisco 49ers $1.2 billion stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. "It’s going to be the smartest stadium, not the biggest or most expensive," said 49ers CEO Jed York, referring to the fact that the stadium will have solar panels, ready access to public transit and locally sourced food. There will be seating capacity for 68,500 and wide concourses and hallways when it is completed in time for the 2014 season.
