Sisters, special educators encourage independence for preschoolers

Sisters Kerry Hansell and Linda Kelly-Lynch, of San Francisco, both work as educators with preschool students who have disabilities in the San Mateo County, Calif., Office of Education's Early Start Program. The pair work with many families with children who have been newly diagnosed with disabilities, and encourage parents to help their children gain independence. "Our job is to give the parents the tools they need to help their children develop language and listening skills," Hansell said.
