Special-education strategies are applied under common core

Two instructional strategies commonly used in special education are part of plans in several states to implement the Common Core State Standards. The methods -- universal design for learning and response to intervention -- are seen as a good fit with the standards' goals of preparing students for college and careers. The standards also are expected to improve education plans and transitions for students with disabilities, but some concerns remain about how students with disabilities will fare during the standards' implementation.
