Study: Thyroid problem raises risk of dying, atrial fibrillation

Patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism had a 68% greater risk of developing atrial fibrillation, making them at higher risk for stroke, according to an analysis of 10 studies. Researchers also found that patients with the thyroid problem were at 24% greater risk of premature death and 29% greater risk of death from heart-related conditions. The findings appeared online in Archives of Internal Medicine.
