Pacesetting sales status for confectionery products was achieved by products that offered the most convenience and indulgence, according to a report from Information Resources. Pacesetting sales are defined by products that have been on sale for at least a year by the end of 2012 and were among the 100 top selling launches across multiple outlets. "Consumers are looking for exciting flavors and flavor combinations. They are also looking for ways to treat themselves on a budget, so home-based treats are a lower-costing splurge versus heading out," said researcher Susan Viamari.
