New D.C. eateries find favor with fresher fast fare

A growing number of Washington, D.C., restaurants are winning over diners with healthier and less pricey alternatives to steakhouses, fast food and fine dining. "There’s a high density of very educated young professionals here. They’re conscious of how food is grown and raised, but they don’t want to cook," said Nicholas Jammet, a co-owner of salad chain Sweetgreen, which has grown to 12 area units since launching in 2007.
