Schools get creative to help students pass algebra

What can schools do to help more students succeed in algebra? A Florida district has instituted student screening in eighth grade to determine which students are prepared to take the subject. The district also bolstered teacher training to include tips on connecting algebra to the real world. One California school increased the use of technology in math instruction, and another adopted a model of explicit direct instruction.
